Check whether it is complete or complementary
Complete food is formulated to cover daily nutritional needs when served as directed. Complementary food is intended to be served alongside a complete diet and should not replace every meal on its own.
Read the ingredient list
Look for a clearly identified animal protein and review the declared percentages. A straightforward list makes the recipe easier to understand. Ask your veterinarian before changing food when your dog has allergies, digestive sensitivity, or a prescribed diet.
Count the whole daily portion
Wet food adds calories. If you combine it with dry food, reduce the other portion to avoid overfeeding. The right amount depends on weight, age, activity, and body condition.
